Part XI

'Vince...' she murmmered hugging him fiercely.

'Easy sweetie, you're gonna crack a rib and the only place we'll be going is to the hospital!' he complained.

She giggled and kissed him.

'Okay now you're making me dizzy. I won't be able to drive without seeing double. That spells hospital too you minx!' he laughed.

She blushed a little and cuddled into his arm.

'Where do you want to go?' he asked.

'Any where. As long as I'm with you today.' she said simply.

'I knew I couldn't depend on you for planning things. So I already made arrangements. We're going for a sushi buffet!' he grinned.

'Thats expensive!' she exclaimed.

'Its okay. I got promoted yesterday!' he laughed.

'You got promoted? Why didn't you say something?' she scolded.

'I tried to. But you seemed pretty stressed out by something. So I thought I'd make it a suprise. So sushi it is. My treat. We can go to that restaurant in Hyatt Saujana I've always told you about.' he smiled.

Not trusting herself to speak, she nodded and rested her head on his shoulders.

'I'm gonna get a cramp!' he complained.

'You old man!' she teased.

'Lovable old man nonetheless!' he laughed and kissed her on the forehead.

'You don't need to eat so fast you know. If they take away your food I'll scold them for you,' he winked.

'Its goooooddd... I've always wanted to try this place after you mentioned it.' she said between bites.

'Its even better to see you enjoy yourself so much. Its a buffet hun. Eat all you want. No one will stop you. They might go broke after this outing; but they can't stop you,' he laughed.

'Shaddup! I'm trying to eat,' she grumbled.

'Its good to see you eat. Maybe we'll get some flesh into those skinny bones of yours. Who knows hell might freeze over,' he teased.

'Don't bring heaven and hell in to...' she started.

'Mundane everyday matters,' he finished for her.

'... mundane everyday matters. Thats not funny.' she said, irked.

He just laughed and kissed her forehead.

'I like it when you do that.' she said.

'What? This?' he asked, kissing her forehead.

She nodded and smiled.

'I love it when you do that,' he said.

'Do what?' she asked.

'Smile.'

'Oh. That's cause I look hot when I smile.' she grinned.

'Actually you look more like a happy puppy. A skinny puppy, but thats besides the point. I love it when you smile. I love making you smile. I want to make you smile the rest of your life..' he said, serious all of a sudden, staring straight into her eyes.

She turned away from his glance. 'Can we go for a walk? I'm done eating and my feet are all stiff now from all that sitting down.' she changed the topic.

'Sure. Excuse me? Bill please!'

He reached for her hand and they walked out of the restaurant

'Its raining. So much for that walk,' he groaned.

'Come on old man, maybe some water will wash away those years from you,' she giggled and ran into the rain.

He groaned again. And ran after her mumbling, 'I'm seriously getting to old for all this stuff.'

The rain got heavier and heavier and soon they were both soaked through.

'Its a water fountain,' she said, staring at it intently.

'Yeap. We don't need a water fountain for water tho. Plenty of that going on around here,' he complained.

'Look! A rainbow! Daddy always used to bring us to visit the water fountains in Singapore. Mommy, sis and me. We'd all stand under the water fountains and make a wish. Daddy said that rainbows were God's way of smiling at us. And the wishes would come true if they were pure of heart.'

Not knowing what to say, he squeeze her hand. 'Make a wish then baby.'

'I wish that Vincent Jeremiah Edwin, will remember me for the rest of his life and always have strawberry milkshakes when ever he thinks of me,' she giggled.

'Thats a lot of sugar. I might die young of diabetis. What a terrible curse honey!' he laughed.

'What do you mean?' she said, upset.

'I think of you every second of the day when I'm awake. Thats like 2 million and thirteen thousand five hundred and eight strawberry milkshakes a day! If I don't die of sugar over dose, the hyper activity will get me killed!' he mused.

'I'm glad.'

'That I'm going to die young? he said exasperated.

'That you think of me all the time. Cause I think of you too...' she said ignoring his little joke.

Then she sneezed.

He towelled her hair dry and she sneezed again.

'Who'se bright idea was it to play in the rain?' he chided.

'Quiet old man... I'm trying to... atischoooo...' she puntuated with a tremendous sneeze.

'At least this old man's not sick!' he laughed.

'I'm not sick... something's just irritated my nose.' she whined.

'Yeap. The rain water irritated your nose.' he stated matter of factly.

'Shut up! Shut up!' she screamed.

There was a knock on the door.

'Vince? Is everything okay in there?' his mother asked.

'Yeap. Everything's fine. My friends just go a really bad allergy to rain water.' he replied.

'Your mom!' she mouthed to him. He nodded.

'Can I meet her?' she asked and headed to the door suddenly.

'What if I said no?' he grumbled as she opened the door and exclaimed excitedly, 'Hi Aunty! I'm Yuki!'

'Mom this, as you already know, is Yuki. Be nice to her. I'm gonna take a shower. And... NO BABY pictures!' he said sharply at his mother.

'Come on downstairs Yuki. I'll have some soup whipped up for your cold.' his mother offered.

He walked downstairs, drying his hair. He could hear laughter and giggles. He groaned inwardly.

'Mom, I thought I told you no baby pictures,' he rushed downstairs for damage control.

'You were soooo fattttttt!' Yuki giggled.

'Fat? Thats an understatement. When he was a baby, we had to lift his chins to put heat rash powder on for him. Look at his legs, they look like lamb chops!' his mother laughed.

'Thank you for that refreshing point of view... MOTHER!' he said sarcastically.

'So how long have you two been going out?' she said ignoring him.

'Close to two years now,' Yuki said.

'You mean some one can actually stand my son for two years? I'm impressed!' she laughed.

'Har.. har.. har.. I'm impressed too. Not!' he grumbled.

Baby nipped him on his calf and he yelped.

'Ouch! Stop that Baby!'

She ignored him and imperiously raised her two fron paws to be carried.

'You bite me AND expect to be carried! Dream on you little tyke.'

'Don't be so mean to her,' Yuki said and lifted up the puppy. 'She's just playing.'

Baby began meticulously licking her face and she giggled.

'I'm glad SOMEONE is having fun. Now, don't you have a dinner to go to mom?' he asked.

'That reminds me! I gotta run! It was nice meeting you Yuki. Do me a favor and be nice to our Vince. He might seem all tough and all on the outside. But he's a sentimental sop!' his mother gushed.

Yuki sighed and looked down. Not daring to meet his mother's gaze. Sensing her discomfort, he quickly said, 'Thank you Reverend Mother for that touching service. Now move your ass or you're gonna be late,' he growled.

'Bye Aunty! It was nice meeting you! Drive safely! God bless!' she said.

'Lets go to my room and finish drying you off. Your hair's still wet. Can't have big baby Yuki catching a cold now can we?' he teased.

'The only big baby I see around here is you. Fat baby mind you. And besides... atisschooooo... I already have a cold.' she grumbled.

He reached in and kissed her lightly on the lips. 'Then we'll have to see what I can do to warm that cold up won't we?' he smiled.

Not waiting for her to answer, he took her hand and led her to his room. He switched on the radio and a song was playing:

Have I told you lately that I love you

Have I told you theres no one else above you

'Somehow seems apt.' he smiled.

'I love this song!' she whispered.

'Its growing on me already.' he hugged her from behind and kissed her hair.

Fill my heart with gladness

Take away all my sadness

'I love you, Yuki.' he said entwining his left hands fingers into hers.

'I... love you too..' she said.

'I want you to have something. It took me a lot of figuring out and thinking. But I think I've made the right choice. For both of us... Close your eyes...' he whispered.

Ease my troubles thats what you do

For the morning sun in all its glory

'Open them,' he commanded.

She opened her eyes and saw a diamond ring in front of her. She gasped.

'Vince... what's this?'

'This is our future hun...' he let go of her suddenly.

Greets the day with hope and comfort too

You fill my life with laughter

'Yuki, I love you with all my heart. And I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?' he said getting down on one knee.

Without waiting, he leaned in and kissed her deeply. Her lips were stiff and cold to his touch at first, then she warmed to the kiss and kissed him back ardently.

'I take that as a yes?' he laughed.

And somehow you make it better

Ease my troubles thats what you do

Her world spun around her. Everything was happening too quickly. 'This isn't what I came here to do,' she wailed to herself. Unbeckoned tears appeared in her eyes.

'Whats wrong hun? Is it too sudden? I thought...' he started.

'You THOUGHT. What were you THINKING? My dad would never allow this to happen. And... and...' she trailed off.

Theres a love thats divine

And its yours and its mine like the sun

'And what?' the hurt from her words making him grow cold.

'And I've met someone else. Someone I really like. Someone daddy approves of...' she gushed.

'You've what?' he said. Stunned.

And at the end of the day

We should give thanks and pray

'I've met some one Vince. I've been trying to tell you the whole day. But I just couldn't find the right time to say it.' the words fell dead out of her mouth.

'Is that so? Then why are you shaking so badly?' he asked trying to stay calm.

'I'm not shaking...' the tears were pouring fiercely down her cheeks now

To the one, to the one

Have I told you lately that I love you

'And you have something caught in your eye...' he noticed.

'I'm fine. I need to go now.' she got up and left, leaving him standing alone by the bed; lost as to what to do.

He looked at the ring on the floor. Picked it up and stared hard at it.

Have I told you theres no one else above you

Fill my heart with gladness

'I have no one to blame but my stupid self.' he said sadly.

He raised his hand to throw the ring out of the window. Then pulled it back to him slowly and looked at it again. Holding it close to his heart, he wept uncontrollably.

Take away all my sadness

Ease my troubles thats what you do...

The song in my strawberry milkshake :)

Have I told you lately that I love you
Have I told you theres no one else above you
Fill my heart with gladness
Take away all my sadness
Ease my troubles thats what you do

For the morning sun in all its glory
Greets the day with hope and comfort too
You fill my life with laughter
And somehow you make it better
Ease my troubles thats what you do

Theres a love thats divine
And its yours and its mine like the sun
And at the end of the day
We should give thanks and pray
To the one, to the one

Have I told you lately that I love you
Have I told you theres no one else above you
Fill my heart with gladness
Take away all my sadness
Ease my troubles thats what you do

Theres a love thats divine
And its yours and its mine like the sun
And at the end of the day
We should give thanks and pray
To the one, to the one

And have I told you lately that I love you
Have I told you theres no one else above you

Take away all my sadness
Fill my life with gladness
Ease my troubles thats what you do
Take away all my sadness
Fill my life with gladness

its by sting if you want to give it a download... great song :)

Blasphemy

it used to be
you and me
now I'm blind
and I can't see

cause your God took away
your baby brown eyes from me
and now I can't see

through the haze of tommorow
or the veil of the future
hidden by the mists of sorrow

cause your God took away
your tender kisses from me
and nothings like it used to be

you and me
were the only thing that was real
and now I can't feel

the cuts and bruises
or your touch and
carresses

cause your God took away
your warmth from me
tearing up the roots from my tree

cause it was just the two of us
a sacred love,
and now I can't do what I must

cause your God took away
your love for me
and I can't set myself free

from the agony of today
and the words that
I need to say

Your God
my ultimate sin
If you loved me more than him
this would have never been....

Don't break my heart

hey all... been a while since I've updated... been a rather emotional week for me but lets not go into that... I'm supposed to remove strawberry milkshake from my site... and I've made up my mind to do so... but only after I've finished the story... so those of you who asked... yes I will finish the story... and yes I will be removing it from my site... for reasons of my own which I don't care to discuss or explain... sorry... some things will remain personal to me :)

if you want a copy of the manuscript don't hesitate to ask me for a copy at cgdevoli@hotmail.com
give me a week and I'll have the story done... tho I've lost the heart for the story to be honest... so please don't get your expectations up... you will be disappointed...
part XI is on the way out... just churning over the finer details... probably tommorow or so... if you want a date... but more likely on Sunday... I have... errands to run at this moment...
a little update on my life... I will be going into internship this february... yeap... the big NAGA... platform for my future ambitions and hopes... I'm not sure which department they've placed me... but I've requested copywriting... so what will be will be I guess...
a side note... the story is just that... a story... stop reading too much into it... and stop assuming... I didn't write strawberry milkshake for anyone... or about anyone... it is fictional and will remain so... so if you don't like it... I can live with that... if you think it was about you... I'm sorry to burst your bubble... it may have been slightly similar... but in the end it was just a notion from my mind... that being said I hope people have enjoyed reading it :)
thats all for now... signing out...
Vince

Part X

'She's amazing baby. She's like a word wizard. I'm gonna have dinner with her tonight and get some tips on writing from her.' he said.

'Oh.' she said dully.

'Her name's Jennifer. She looks a lot like you but she's older of course.'

'Oh.'

'What wrong hun? You don't sound quite right.' he asked.

'Nothing. I'm just tired. I'll talk to you tommorow. Bye.' she hanged up.

'Jennifer. Looks just like me. She's all he's been talking about this past week. I haven't seen him for nearly two months now. Maybe he's getting tired of me.'

'Two months. All we have are phone calls and text messages or online chats. No wonder he's sick of me.' She sighed. There was nothing she could do about it. Her father suspected she was going out with Vince and had been very strict about where and when she went out.

'I should just talk to daddy about Vince. But how? He gets so upset when ever I bring it up. I don't want him to lose his temper again.' She shuddered at the thought. He father was a kind and gentle person normally and she'd never seen him so angry or violent before. It scared the senses out of her.

'Two months! If I don't do something I'll end up losing him. He's been patient so far but how long can we go without seeing each other?' She steeled herself and decided that she would talk to her father about it that night itself.

'Daddy, can I talk to you?' she asked seriously.

'Sure Yuki. What is it about?' he asked.

'You have to promise not to lose your temper tho, otherwise I don't want to talk about it.' she insisted never taking her eyes off him.

'Its about him isn't it? I won't lose my temper. I almost lost you once when I did,' he sighed.

'Yes daddy. I'm quite serious about Vince. We've been going out for a year and a bit now. He's been good to me. I think we're in love. No. I know we're in love.' she started. 'And I don't understand why you're so against him You've never even met him.'

'Your mother told me all I needed to hear about that boy. He's a mongrel and he's not a Christian.' he said firmly.

'He's MIXED... not a mongrel. How can you say that? And he's going to church!' she exclaimed.

'For you? Thats not piousness. That's a boy who doesn't understand what the Lord stands for or His sacrifice. Or His love. If you want to talk about love, think of Jesus who died for us at the cross. THAT is love. What you and this boy feel. It pales to it.' he snapped.

'Everything pales to that daddy. You're not being fair.' she implored.

'Why can't you find a nice Chinese Christian boy. Like Leo? He's nice and good looking too.' he commented.

'Its not about the looks daddy. I love Vince and he makes me happy. It doesn't matter to me that he's half Chinese and half Indian. These are just small things. And as for religion, he's had a hard and cruel life. I think he's starting to believe again. ' she said desparately.

'A small thing?' he spluttered. 'A SMALL thing? I will NOT have an Indian in my family. Wife beaters. They drink away all their money. He doesn't even have a Chinese surname. Starting to believe again? Do you know how many people I've seen in church who 'start to believe' at their own convinience. Thats not true faith.' he growled.

'He doesn't need a Chinese surname for me to love him.' she said plainly.

'Are you bent on sending me to an early grave? I told you before. This boy is no good for you. Find someone else.' he tried to end the conversation.

'I want him daddy. Only him.' she said adamantly.

'I didn't want to say this but we were strict with you when you were younger. Sending you to home schooling was the best choice. We hoped to keep you away from negative influences. But if you insist on this, I will pull you out of college and you can come work in the church with me and your mother. Forget about a social life let alone a mongrel boyfriend. Forget about studying. And definitely forget about that idiot boy. Thats all I have to say.' he stormed away.

She sat down. Stunned at what her father was threatening. College had been a great freedom to her. She had been home tutored ever since she was young. She had friends now. And a promise for a future career as a lawyer. If her father took that away from her, she would have nothing left. And she still wouldn't be able to be with Vince.

She hugged her feet in the fetal position, sobbing away; not knowing what to do.

'I'll just end up hurting him in the end. The more I delay this the worse it will be for him.' she choked. Then her phone rang.

'Hey baby, are you sure you're alright? I'm worried. You sounded troubled. If its anything bugging you let me know and we'll talk it through.

'I'll do it now,' she thought. 'Can I... see you tommorow?' she stammered.

'So thats what was bothering you. Sure. I'll take the day off. You should have just said. Its no big deal. Don't worry about. Its been ages since I've seen you too. I miss you, you silly girl,' he scolded.

'I'll see you tommorow then. Pick me up at 12 will ya. Don't be late kay?', she said.

'Alright. Tommorow it is. I love you baby,' he whispered.

'See ya.' she hung up

Part IX

'Hello?' he groaned.

'Hello? Is that all you can manage? I've been calling you for the past six hours!' she said shrilly.

'Not so loud hun. My head is killing me.' he groaned again.

'You were drinking!' she accused.

'Yes I was; now I'm paying for it,' he grunted.

'I thought you said you weren't going to drink any more.' she said sadly.

'It was different. Last nigh,t it was for work. My boss brought us out for drinks after we clinched an account. Everyone was celebrating.' he explained.

'You could have said no. He would have understood.' she said softly.

'And be a wet blanket? I don't think so...' he said irritatedly. 'We got a BIG account. It was worth celebrating. At this rate I'll be promoted soon,' he added.

'Was this such a big account that you forgot you were supposed to see me today?' she whispered.

'No... not at all... I didn't mean it like that...' he trailed off.

'Did you have a good time?' she asked.

'Yes I did.'

'Were there girls there last night?' she asked.

'Whats that got to do with anything?' he said, puzzled.

'Were there girls there last night?' she reaffirmed.

'Yes, there were... whats your point?' he asked.

'Did you have a good time with them? Such a good time that you forgot that I even existed? I waited for you for three hours today. And you couldn't even be bothered to drop me a text saying you couldn't make it. THREE hours Vince.' she was angry now and the bitterness flowed from her like a tide in the early morning.

'Look. I didn't do anything to deserve this lecture. They're just colleagues. I'm sorry that I overslept. Its not like I forgot. I was just too out of it to call you,' he said edgilly.

'We don't meet up for a month. And when we have the chance to. you go and get drunk and not turn up at all? Is that how it works?' she said, voice going up several octaves.

'Who's fault is it that we didn't meet for a month? It's not like I didn't try to see you. You're either too busy with church or your exams!' he exclaimed.

'Church? Don't go there. Its fine if you don't want to believe but I want to.'

'Fine that I don't believe? Then why the hell do you keep pushing me to go to church? Do you think I LIKE going to church? Do you think I actually care there's a God? Who do you think I'm trying to make happy by going to church?' he asked bitterly.

'You told me you didn't mind. You said you wanted to try. For us.' she choked.

'It wasn't for US. It was for YOU. YOU. And no one else.' he said mercilessly.

'So its my fault now?' she asked.

'I didn't say that. Look. I'm sorry about today okay. Where are you now. I'll come pick you up.' he tried to calm himself; realising that he was being hurtful because of the foul mood he was in.

'I can't.'

'Can't or won't?' he asked bitterly.

'I'm at home. Daddy's at home.' she added quietly.

'Daddy? How long are you gonna keep us a secret? Its been a year already. I feel like some thief running around behind someone's back. Maybe I'm just not good enough for 'daddy'. Maybe this whole thing's just a bad idea.' he said.

'Its not like that.' she whispered close to tears.

'It sure seems like that.'

'I've tried to tell him. Its not like I never tried. He just gets so angry when I talk about it.' she said defensively.

'So what does that mean? We keep sneaking around like thieves in the night?' he said angrilly. 'I can't even see you when I want to. Everything has to be arranged neatly so 'daddy' doesn't get upset. What about how I feel? Like some reject because I don't go to church and because I'm mixed.'

'I don't look at you that way.' she tried to placate him.

'What does it matter how YOU look at me. It's how DADDY looks at me that matters!' he shouted.

'I don't want to talk to you anymore. You're just being plain hurtful.'

'The truth hurts.' he said bitterly.

'Good bye.'

'Hey stranger :P...' he texted her

'What do YOU want?' she replied.

'I'm outside your house.' he answered.

'Hun, I told you I can't see you. Daddy's here,' she sighed.

'Yes. But that doesn't mean that *I* can't see you. Come outside. Pretend to throw some rubbish or something... I just want to look at you :) ,' he pleaded.

She opened her gate and walked towards the dustbin, wondering where he was. Then her phone beeped.

'Wow... did you put on those sexy jammies just to tease me :p?' he asked.

'I wear these all the time.' she replied curtly.

'Not when I'm around. You look great. I'd forgotten how good you look. :(' he texted.

'You're not getting off the hook that easily. I was really hurt this evening. You said some horrible things >:(!' she said.

'I'm sorry. I didn't mean to lose my temper. I'll make it up to you. Look on the floor.' he replied.

She looked around curiously and found a single red rose with a card. The card was full of puri kura* of him. Smiling, snarling, grinning, pretending to cry, all sorts of poses. She laughed at the silly poses.

'You like? You don't have any pictures of me. I thought I'd fix that :)' he said.

'You're so ugly. I wonder what I see in you,' she giggled.

'Must be my uber sexiness that attracted you to me *grin*.'

'Last I checked ugly and sexiness are not the same thing! :p' she replied.

'Okay. You can go in now. I'm bored of checking you out already. Next time we go out; the theme is jammies!' he laughed.

'You big dolt! I love you.' she texted.

'I love you too.' he replied.

'You said it?' she said, suprised.

'Said what?' he teased.

'You said you love me.' she insisted.

'Bah. Did not. You have no evidence.' he grumbled.

'I'm going to keep that text message some where safe.' she smiled.

Her phone rang and she picked it up quickly.

'I love you Yu-chan.' he said and hanged up.

She felt a flush creeping into her face.

'Yuki? What are you doing outside so long?' her father asked.

'Just getting some air daddy.' she hid the rose in her t-shirt and walked into the house. Smiling.

* puri kura are small photographs pictures taken in booths

*EDIT* changed it from next to the dustbin to on the floor cause shirls was grossed out about smelling a flower next to a dustbin... I SAID NEXT TO... NOT IN!? BLEH!

VIII

'Honey, where are you?'

'I'm at church,' he said yawning like he'd fall over and die.

'Church? Baby! You should have come to ours!' she said excitedly.

'Yea? And have your dad throw the bible at me? I might burn to an unholy pre-mature death,' he grumbled.

'Don't say that,' she pleaded.

'Sorry. Its just that its REALLY early. And I slept REALLY late. I guess you could say I'm cranky.' he apologised.

'Why did you go?' she asked.

'To check out the chicks of course. Why else do guys go to church?' he teased.

'Did you go because you thought I wanted you to?' she persisted.

'Doesn't that like make you super important to me? That I'd even go to ... CHURCH for you?' he said mercilessly.

'It doesssss.... it doessssssss,' she laughed happily.

'Don't let it get to your head baby,' he hissed.

'It already has. I loveee youuuuuuu..' she chirped.

'Heh... well I gotta run baby, the dude in black robes and a white collar seems like he's gonna start talking or singing... not like it makes a difference to me...' he sighed.

'It'll be good hun. I promise. I'll call you later when I'm done performing for church.' she said.

'Bang em drums like hell's gonna freeze over... pun unintended,' he laughed.

'You big dolt. Talk to you soon. Have fun!' she said.

'Have fun she says.' he groaned to himself.

'Who is new in God's church today?' the pastor asked.

'He must be wondering who the sinners are,' he mused to himself. 'No way I'm owning up.'

'You, young man. You're a new face here aren't you?' the pastor said smiling.

He cursed his luck and smiled; nodding. 'This is going to be a LONG morning,' he sighed to himself.

'Baby, baby, tell me... how was church?' she bugged when she called him.

'Err... it was traumatising...' he thought to himself.

'It was great hun.' he replied.

'What did the pastor talk about?' she asked.

'ME!' he grumbled.

'Huh?' she was stunned.

'Well not me. But people who come to church to please their girlfriends.' he said.

'WHAT?' she said, shocked.

'Ok ok.. so I was exaggerating. But it was more or less like that. He was talking about people who come to church, but don't really feel the love of God. People who come for appearances sake, but don't understand His greatness. Yea something along those lines.' he explained.

'Its okay hun, you'll get there. You're doing great so far. It gets easier as you go along,' she encouraged.

'God I hope so,' he mumbled.

'Pardon sweetie... you're breaking up,' she said.

'I know so, baby, I know so!' he lied.

'Baby, I gotta go, I love you!' she said making kissy sounds into the phone.

'I... I'll see you soon baby,' he said putting the phone down.

'I can't do this again. I'll just die! In fact I might choose to die before I do this again!' he thought to himself. 'But she was so happy.' He sighed. Sundays were gonna suck big time for him from now on.

'Honey, I've got some big news for you,' he said.

'Oh? What about?' she asked.

'I got a job as a copywriter at HELP!' he exclaimed.

'OH MY GOD! I'm so happy for you! When do you start?' she gushed.

'Early next month. But...' he paused.

'But what baby?' she asked.

'Its real far away. I won't get to see you as often now that I'm working full time.' he said sadly.

'Oh... yea...' she realised.

'I'll call you all the time. And we can sneak off during weekends when you're free.' he placated.

'It won't be the same tho.' she said mournfully.

'We'll manage tho won't we?' he asked.

'Yea, hun, sure thing.' she said half heartedly.

'I'll come pick you up after college to celebrate,' he offered.

'I can't baby, exams coming up. I miss you tho,' she sighed.

'What subjects? I'll tutor you,' he offered.

'No, no no.... you're not getting away with that. With you around there's no way I can concentrate.' she grumbled.

'When do your exams end?' he asked.

'At the end of this month.' she sighed again.

'Oh. That means I won't get to see you before I start work.' he realised.

'We'll work something out. Baby steps remember?' she tried to sound optimistic.

'Baby steps.' he agreed.

He put down the phone feeling uneasy. Maybe he shouldn't take the job afterall. Maybe she didn't want him to take the job. But it was what he always wanted to be. A copy writer. This was a chance he couldn't miss. Not even for her.

Sighing, he lit a cigarette and lay down on his bed. 'I miss her already,' he thought.

Part VII

He was running hard as he felt the vibration in his left hip.

'My phone.' He thought. 'Yuki.'

He let it ring for a while wondering what to do.

'Yes?' he asked.

'Can you come pick me up,' she choked.

'Pick you up?' he said, puzzled. It began to drizzle slightly.

'If you can't I'll understand,' she was sobbing now.

'Wait for me at the Mobil. I'll be there as soon as I can.'

He drove faster than he normally did. Skipping red lights and weaving in and out of traffic like there was no tommorow.

Fifteen minutes later. He reached his destination. The drizzle had become a full blown thunderstorm. He looked around for her, only to find her at the corner of the petrol station; in the middle of the rain.

Not bothering to bring an umbrella, he rushed towards her.

'Baby whats wrong?' he pulled her into a hug. She sobbed and sobbed. Unable to speak.

'Baby tell me whats wrong?' he whispered into her ear kissing her cheek.

'I told daddy about us. He got real mad. Really mad. I've never seen him that angry before.' she said.

He lifted her chin to look at her face and saw the beginnings of an ugly bruise on her cheek. A cold fury burned in him.

'He hit you?' he asked quietly.

'He didn't mean to. He was throwing things around and this picture frame hit me.' she said quickly.

'Let's get you into some dry clothes and out of here.' he said arms wrapped protectively around her.

She was quiet all the way to his house. He stole glances at her, trying to gauge her mood but never said anything. She shyly put her hand on his gear changing hand. He looked at her for a while. Smiled and interlaced his fingers with hers and put it back on the gear box.

He towelled her hair dry as she sat on his lap.

'Do you love me?' she asked looking into his eyes.

'I...' he started.

'Just tell me the truth. You don't have to pity me. I can handle it,' she said firmly.

'I... don't want to lose you.' he hugged her close.

She pushed him away slightly. And repeated her question. 'Do you love me?'

'I... I can't say. I'm sorry.' he apologised.

'Lets go for a walk. Its stopped raining,' she suggested.

They walked without a word passed between them for twenty minutes. Hand in hand, and just enjoying the fresh air and sights around them.

'My father doesn't want me to see you any more.' she said suddenly.

'I understand.' he said ackwardly.

'Is that all you have to say?' she asked, the hurt clear in her voice.

'Look. I'm horrible with this. I don't know what to say or what to do. I just know that you mean everything to me. And I don't want to lose you. Not now. Not tommorow Not ever. I don't know what it means to be in love. Because I've never been in love before.' he gushed.

She looked at him and hugged him. 'What will we do? I don't want to go home anymore. I want to be with you.'

'Baby, we'll take things slowly. One step at a time k? Baby steps. Everything will work out. But you have to go home. Family is important. I'm sure everyone's worried sick about you by now. Switch your phone on if you don't believe me.' he implored.

As soon as she switched her phone on it began beeping and beeping. Message after message came into her hand phone. She was silent for a moment. Reading the messages.

'Daddy said he was sorry. And all he wants is for me to come home. That we can talk about the rest later on.' she explained.

'I was right then.' he smiled. 'Tell him you will be back slightly later. We'll have dinner and watch a movie first. This is the first time I've managed to get you to myself at night.'

'Really?' she beamed.

'Really.' he said pulling her close for a kiss.

As they kissed a leaf landed on their heads.

'I think the park is telling me to leaf you alone,' he laughed.

She groaned. 'You really have an old man's sense of humor.'

'This is our lucky leaf since it landed on us while we were kissing. I'll keep it safe in my car. And as long as I have it with me, we'll always have each other.' he said, putting the leaf in his pocket.

'You're weird.' she said but hugged him tightly.

They had Japanese for dinner. Her favourite.

'Okay. Sushi is an acquired taste. And wasabi is just a plain awful taste,' he grumbled.

'Thats cause you took too much. Your eyes are tearing,' she giggled.

'What movie do you want to watch.' he asked.

'I don't know.' she pouted thoughtfully.

'I bet you I can guess what movie we end up watching.' he grinned.

'Oh? What makes you say that?' she wondered.

'Tell you what. I'll write it down here. On a piece of paper. And we'll see if I'm right later.' he said.

They queued for their movie tickets. When it was finally their turn, she decided she wanted to watch 'The Incredibles'. He laughed and told her to unfold the paper.

'The Incredibles.' she said baffled. 'How did you know?'

'You're my overgrown baby. I know you.' he smiled.

She kissed his cheek and cuddled into his arm.

In the cinema, he found himself watching her more than the movie. When she smiled. When she frowned. When she laughed. He found it fascinating. He put his arm around her and she leaned into him. He didn't realise when the movie was over until she removed herself from his arms and got up to go.

'That was an amazing movie!' she said.

'Yeap. It was pretty good.' he smiled.

'How would you know?' she asked.

'What do you mean?' he said.

'You were staring at me through the whole movie,' she giggled.

'I was not!' he said defensively. 'Just three quarters of the movie,' he laughed. 'I can tell you all about the beginning!' he grinned.

They reached her house too quickly for his tastes. Their night together was at an end.

'You don't mind do you?'

'Don't mind what?' she asked.

'That I can't say if I love you.' he added quietly.

She smiled and kissed him. 'Good night hun.'

'Goodnight baby,' he replied.

She walked into her house thinking 'You're a fool Vincent. A crazy loving fool.'

Part VI

He lay in bed smoking his ciggarettes. Ash was all around him but he seemed oblivious. Strawberry milkshake. 'Whats so great about it' he wondered.

'Its sweet at first but towards the end it turns bland. Just like love. It pretty to look at but you can't hold on to it. It just melts away and disappears. Just like love.'

'So why am I so fascinated by her?' he took a deep drag of his ciggarette.

'Nothing lasts.' his mind drifted.

'Boys come here. I have something to tell you,' his mother sobbed.

'Your bastard of a father has been cheating on me all this while. And now he's leaving us for her.' she choked between sobs.

'Daddy's going away? Don't you love us anymore daddy?' the boy had asked.

His father hung his head low. The boy never took his eyes off his father as he packed his bags and walked out of the house.

His mind wandered again.

'Daddy... I want daddy!' the young boy cried in the hospital bed, feverish.

'Daddy's not here any more for any of us. He doesn't love us any more. When will you accept that?' his mother screamed.

He closed his eyes trying to block out the image.

'Remember Vince, all women want is a good time. Money, cars, a big house, the like. When thats gone everything else is gone too. Falling in love could be the biggest mistake you make,' his father had told him. 'Don't make the same mistakes I did. Learn from me.'

A flash again.

'You don't love me? What about all those sweet things you said to me? What about all those times we made love? Didn't it mean anything to you?'

'I'm sorry.'

She slapped him hard and ran away crying.

Scenes flashed before his eyes. One after another. Each with the same outcome.

'I'm sorry'

Another slap.

'I didn't mean to hurt you.'

A slap.

'I don't think I can make you happy.'

A slap again.

'I don't mean for them to fall in love with me. I just wanted some company thats all. And to be happy for a little while. Why can't they understand?'

'Why didn't I sleep with her? Because she was a virgin?' He had taken virgins before.

'Why?'

'Why?'

He saw her smile again. Heard her laugh. Hot ash fell onto his hand but he ignored it. Then he saw her crying and felt hot pikes stab into his heart.

'You fool! What are you doing?' he cursed himself. His fingers worked by themselves.

'I miss you. Can I see you?' he had typed on his phone.

Send.

All I have to do is click send.

He cancelled it and stood up. Then he went for a run.

Part V

He kissed her gently on the forehead and said, ’You don’t have to be scared, I'm not gonna hurt you. Lets just stay like this a while okay?' he reached out and folded his arms around her and lied next to her on the bed.

He kissed her cheek brushed her auburn brown hair aside, trailing kisses down her neck.

'She smells so good,' he thought. 'And she's smooth and soft... so soft. Do I really know what I'm missing?' he wondered.

'Gah! Its not good!' he gasped suddenly and sat up.

'Wha... whats wrong?' she asked nervously.

'This isn't going to work. But I have just the right cure for it!' he carried her into the bath room and turned the shower on.

'ITS COLD!' she whined.

'Thats the idea baby. If you got my blood boiling any hotter I would have jumped you!' he groaned.

'Why didn't you?'

'I don't know,' he said quietly.

'I'm not good enough for you?' she asked sadly.

'You're crazy if you think that! Didn't you see the effect you had on me?' he replied.

'Then what is it?' she asked again.

'Like I said I don't know. Maybe you're too hippy for my taste,' he said grinning pinching her bottom.

'Hippy? HIPPY?' she said in exasparation. 'You perv! Watch where you're touching. Don't go grabbing my butt just like that!' she giggled squirting bathing lotion into his face.

'I don't recall you struggling earlier... let alone complaining. In fact you were very appreciative,' he laughed.

'Oh... you jerk!' she fumed making him laugh even harder.

On the otherside of the door, there was the sound of barking. Baby had heard them laughing and obviously disapproved.

'She must have finished her biccy,' she said.

'Sound like it.'

When there was no response to to her barking, the pup changed her tactics; whining for all she was worth.

'I think she wants in.'

'You reckon?' he asked. He opened the connecting door and the puppy scrambled inside excitedly. Only to realise that she had been tricked into a bath.

'Its about time she had a wash any way!' he laughed.

Baby obviously did not think it had been that long. She began struggling quite vigourously for one so tiny. At the end of it all, she looked quite regretful about intruding into the couple shower.

He was busy scrubbing the unhappy puppy dry when she came out of the bathroom. He looked at her appreciatively from head to toe and felt his blood start to boil again.

'One cold shower a day is bad enough,' he grumbled. 'Put some clothes on before I have to take another. Theres a bathrobe in the cupboard.'

She giggled happily to herself and put on the bathrobe.

She moved up beside him on the bed and lay down. 'You know I hate it when you smoke those cancer sticks.'

'Can't help it. It calms me down and helps me think,' he waved off her disapproval.

'Are you nervous now?' she asked, her breath warm on his cheek. She lifted her lips into his.

'No but I'm getting there,' he said after the kiss. 'Stop that,' he said irritably.

She laughed again and rested her cheek on his chest.

'Say Vince.'

'Yes Yu-chan.'

'I'm going to tell my dad about us.' she said quietly.

He lay still. Quiet.

'I want my family to know about us. So we can be together always,' she whispered in his ear, kissing his cheek.

'Its getting late. My brother and mother will be home soon. You'd better get dressed and leave,' he said coldly.

She was stung by his reply but too proud to show it. She dressed quickly. They did not speak a word as she walked outside towards her car. He did not follow her. Tears coming to her eyes, she started the engine and drove off.

He watched her every second of the way. Knowing she was hurt. Hurting that he had hurt her that way. But he kept his silence.

'I could have slept with her but I didn't. Whats wrong with me? Thats all I wanted wasn't it?'

He closed his eyes and her smiling face came unwillingly to his mind.

'I refuse to fall in love,' he said outloud and walked into his house.

Kids learn from a young age

especially the women!

Part IV

They reached his house in around five minutes. It wasn't a big house but it was pretty in its own way. In a way his house was the border between the rich and the poor. His house was the barrier between the low cost housing areas and the huge mansions in his area. The grass was neatly trimmed and the house well maintained.

'Here we are. Home sweet home.' he said.

'Its pretty! Looks like one of those cottages from overseas.' she exclaimed commenting on the roof tiling.

'I don't know about that. But its home to me. And theres no place I feel safer than here.' he smiled.

As he open the door they could hear excited yipping coming from inside the house.

'Hey sweetie. Daddy's home.' he cooed opening the grill door. A little puppy barely a hands width size ran excitedly at him. He picked her up and she began a through inspection of his face with her tongue. Then she stopped. Staring critically at the intruder in her territory.

'This is Yuki, baby. Say hello!' he told the pup and put her down. The pup jumped around excitedly then stood on her back paws, waiting to be carried.

'I think she wants you to carry her.' he explained.

'Oh my god! She so tiny and adorable. She said carrying the pup. Baby began licking her face in quite a serious manner.

'Hey hey... don't slobber all over her. I don't want her smelling like you,' he complained.

'Oh hush, she's just being friendly,' she chided.

'If her tail shakes any harder she'll start floating,' he grumbled.

'Its like a little helicopter,' she giggled. 'Baby! Baby! Baby!' she called. Even more excited, her tail moved even more frantically.

'Put her down already. If you carry her any longer she'll forget how to walk. Or worse still, expect me to carry her little butt everywhere.' he scolded.

She put the puppy down and the puppy began running excitedly around the couple. Stopping every now and then to sniff Yuki's toes which had be painted.

'You're gonna be sick if you lick nail polish you silly girl!' he spanked her lightly on her bottom.

They went to the sofa. He sat down and she lay her head on his lap.

'You're beautiful you know. I mean that,' he close his eyes and reached in to kiss her lips... only to find a bundle of fur between him and his target.

'BABY!' he scolded. 'Get off!'

The pup was too busy licking Yuki's face to pay any notice to her master. Tail wagging excitedly all the while. Yuki laughed and cuddled the puppy.

'I think she's jealous!' she giggled.

'I think she's a pain!' he grumbled.

'Don't be so mean. She's only a pup.' she chastised and leaned in to kiss him.

Their lips met softly at first. Then the kissed deepened and he cupped her chin gently. He kissed her forehead and then leaned down to continue the kiss they had started, and found something licking his neck.

'This isn't a menage trois!' he said disgustedly. He reached for Yuki's hand and led her upstairs, trailed by a eager puppy all the way up the stairs.

'I'll show you who's boss.' He carried Baby into his brother's room and put a treat on the floor. Distracted, the puppy nuzzled happily at the treat and ignored the two of them for a while.

'Thats bribery!' she said accusingly.

'A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do!' he said, shutting the door and leaving the puppy in his brothers room.

'This is my room.' he said simply.

'Its a mess! And whats all this writing on your walls?' she asked curiously reading the scribblings on the wall. 'Poems!' she exclaimed. 'You write poems? How come I never knew?' she asked.

'Its no big deal. I just like writing crap on my walls. Gives the place more atmosphere.' he shrugged.

'I'm dating a poet. Who hasn't written a poem for me!' she glared at him.

'I only write about depressing things. Are you sure you want me to write about you? he laughed.

'Write me a nice one then!' she commanded.

'Typical of a woman trying to change her man.' he groaned.

'I'll be real nice to you if you write me a nice poem!' she grabbed him suddenly and started kissing him.

It was a gentle kiss at first. Then he gently held a handful of her hair and kissed her even more intensely. Their worlds shrank into that kiss. Twirling and spinning. Colors floated before their eyes and there was nothing more important in the world than that share physical connection.

His hands were on her. Not grabbing or holding, merely possessing. Gently yet authoratively he carressed her with his fingers. His left hand traced circles down her back, resting at the small of her back.

Hard on soft. Firm on gentle. Butterfly kisses here and there. Skin on skin. Caressing, touching and fulfilling. Fire on fire. The smell of desire filled the air.

They were both breathing hard before they noticed their clothes were on the floor.

'Wait,' she gasped. 'Please. I've never done this before. Please don't hurt me.' she looked at him directly in the eyes, a slow blush forming from her neck to her face.

He looked at her eyes. His body ached to be with her. And to possess her. But the look in her eye; that innocence, that fear. He pushed her onto the bed.

Sleeping arrangements

From Eunice :D

A man and a woman who had never met before, but were both married to other people, found themselves assigned to the same sleeping room on a transcontinental train.

Though initially embarrassed and uneasy over sharing a room, they were both very tired and fell asleep quickly.... Him in the upper bunk and she in the lower.

At 1:00 AM, the man leaned over and gently woke the woman saying, "Ma'am, I'm sorry to bother you, but would you be willing to reach into the closet to get me a second blanket. I'm awfully cold. "

"I have a better idea," she replied." Just for tonight, let's> just pretend that we're married. "

"Wow! That's a great idea! " he exclaimed !

"Good, " she replied... "Get your own f***ing blanket."

After a stunned moment of silence, he farted.

Part III

Strawberry Milkshake III

'Summer's sick... I'm so worried!' she text him.

'Who's Summer? Your sister? Odd name!' he replied.

'My dog you dolt! She's been having diahorea since last night.'

'You have a dog? What breed? We just bought a Jack Russell a few nights ago. Don't worry. I'm sure she'll be fine soon. Probably just ate something wrong. Like a rat or a roach. Haha.'

'WHAT? I have a JRT too! I want to see your puppy! Whats her name?' she typed excitedly fumbing while typing the message.

'Her name's Baby. Sure. Why don't you pop by my place after you finish class?' he asked.

'Baby? You have another woman in your life. *pout*' she complained.

'Guilty as charged. I have a heart big enough for the both of you tho. And I think you smell better than she does. So thats one for your side.' he teased.

'I just realised. I don't know where you live. Thats weird isn't it?'

'Kinda. We've been going out for a while now. I guess it never came up in the conversation. Tell you what. I'll pick you up from college and show u the way. So you can come over next time on your own.' he said.

'Are you sure there really is a puppy? You're not just luring me to your house to take advantage of me are you?' she giggled.

'Hun, if I wanted to take advantage of you; I'd do it in my car. I'm the adventurous sort. :P~!' he laughed.

'Ok fine. Pick me up at 12. And flowers won't excuse you from being late this time!'

'That depends on how many flowers I buy really. See you tommorow then.'

'Love you.' she typed tentatively.

'Ditto.' he replied.

'Ditto? What kind of answer was that?' she grumbled to herself. 'I'll make him pay for that when I see him tommorow. A puppy! I love puppies! Can't wait... can't wait...' she thought to herself and dozed off into sleep.

She waved good bye to her class mates and beamed as she saw his little blue car parked outside her college.

'Hey angel, whats with the funky outfit?' he asked as she stepped into his car. 'As if I don't have enough to worry about with your college guys, you wear THAT to college as well?' he grumbled.

She smirked at him. 'So you admit it?'

'Admit what?' he asked.

'You're jealous!' she laughed.

'Jealous? You're barely dressed! And in some kind of Jap school girl uniform!' he exclaimed exasparatedly.

'You like it?'

'Thats besides the point. I don't want the whole world seeing my girlfriend half naked,' he grumbled.

'So you DO like it. Hehe. I'm glad. I bought it for you!' she looked away shyly.

'I'd like it a whole lot more if you didn't wear it to college.'

'Just for you then... pervy old man!' she laughed.

'I'm not a perv... and I'm not old either!'

'Right. You not either. You're both!'

'Whatever... just don't wear it out any more okay?' he was close to pleading.

'I won't if you say you love me.' she said after a thoughtful pause.

'How summer doing?' he asked, changing the topic.

'Summer's better. She's not so sick any more. I think its cause she ate some chocolate I left in the bin. She rummaged through it and found it.' she said guiltily.

'Shesh... chocolate's lethal to dogs you silly girl. You should have known better!' he scolded.

'I didn't think she'd rummage through my bin!' she pouted.

'Throw it some place safe next time silly.' he hugged her.

'I know, My sis said she'd never forgive me if Summer died.'

'More importantly I don't think you can forgive yourself.' he said kissing her on the forehead. 'Keep an eye on the road. I'll show u the easy way to my house so you won't get lost.'

'Mmmkay..' she said snuggling up to his side.

'You're a horrible distraction you know!' he complained.

'Shut up and drive Jenkins!' she laughed.

'If you treat all your drivers like this I'm getting worried,' he grumbled.

Strawberry Milkshake part II

He arrived half an hour early on the scene. He looked around for Yuki and found her sitting in a corner, sipping strawberry milkshade. He grinned to himself. So he wasn't the only one excited about meeting up again. I'll let her wait a little while, he mused and walked away.

'Hey stranger,' he smiled at her, hands behind his back.

'You're late! Its 12.15!'

'I have a good excuse,' he winked and presented her with a single white rose.

'A rose? What for?' she asked.

'Can't a guy buy flowers for a cute girl without a reason?'he countered with a question of his own.

'Why white?'

'Red means love right? I just met you. I'm not that kinda guy,' he covered his face with his hands in mock bashfulness.

'Thank you!' she laughed.

'The pleasure's all mine.' he said and pecked her on the forehead.

'What do you do?' she asked all of a sudden.

'Do?' he said, puzzled.

'I mean what job do you do.' she explained.

'I steal little girls hearts and feed them to the tooth fairy. After all these years of bad teeth, she's finally thinking about getting even.' he offered.

'Seriously... what do you do?' she asked insistently.

'Do I really have to tell you? You might not want to talk to me anymore after I tell you,' he said sadly.

'Tell me,' she asked

'I write and edit textbooks for Sasbadi?' he gave in.

'Sasbadi? The workbook company?' she questioned.

'The one and only.'

'Oh... my... god...you mean all those awful textbooks and work books I did at form five were from you?' she accused.

'Well... not all of them. Just the English ones.' he said sheepishly.

'You're soooo evil! Do you know how much torture your books put me through?' she complained.

'Well think of it this way. You were paying good money for me to buy good beer with my salary.' he grinned.

'You're incorrigble.'

'I've been called worse things.'

And that was how it began. He went to see her more and more often during his lunch breaks. Then it came to a point he would see her almost whenever she had a break. They would talk about what she was doing in college. She was a loner in college and had few close friends. Even those she did not hang out with. With him coming to see her during all her breaks, she drifted even further from them.

'Lets go some place else today. If I have to sit one more minute at this McDonalds talking to you, I swear we'll both start to merge with the restaurant.' he grumbled.

'I thought my company was more important than the silly surroundings.' she quipped.

'You're company's the only reason I've been getting fat on fast food for the last month. Another french fry and I'll keel over from a heart attack!' he laughed.

'Fine. Where do you want to go?' she sulked.

'To work.' he said shortly

'You're bringing me to work? What on earth for?' she asked.

'Sasbadi's looking for a new mascot. Has to be cute and petite. I figured you fit the bill.' he jabbed.

'Ha... Ha... so funny Vince... not!' she said.

'I just need to drop off some work there. Come along. We can chat while I drive.' he offered.

'Sounds alright I guess. You better be a safe driver.' she said.

'I'll go so slow; snails will breeze past us. Don't worry!.'

They went to the parking lot and he stopped by a blue Kelissa.

'There's my baby.' He said proudly.

'Baby? Its barely a baby. Any smaller and it would be before incubation period!' she teased.

'Well I paid for it myself. I'm not driving daddy or mommy's car around unlike most people.' he said.

'I guess a toy car's better than no car.' she teased.

'Young lady, its a long walk back to college. Would you like a ride on my chariot or to use your feet to get back?'

'Ok, lets play then. Let see if this thing's got a engine that can actually move.' she grinned.

'Thing??? Thinggg?' he spluttered. 'Ok. Thats it. Either you call my baby the chariot she is. Or we aren't going anywhere.'

'Chariot?'

'Call... not ask!' he insisted.

'Hail and greetings masteful chariot!'

'I'll ignore the sarcasm just this once wench! Get in and lets go.'

'I'm a nymph not a wench!' she argued.

'Cool. I always wanted to date a nympho,' he chuckled.

She slapped him across the head and got into the car. He closed the door behind her and got into the driving seat.

'You know. I just got my license.' she hinted.

'Thats nice.' he said evasively.

'Its kinda deserted here. Let me drive! Pull over!' she exclaimed.

'I have ONE car. Not spares. Go trash your daddy's car a few times before trying to drive my machine.' he said.

'I'll be careful! Honest I will!' she said earnestly.

'I'll be even MORE careful and not let you drive. I might be 22 but I'm still too young to die!' he said exasparatedly.

'Its your punishment for being late then.' she said thought fully.

'I was buying you flowers thats why I was late!' he complained.

'Flo-WER... not flo-WERS! And thats not getting you off the hook.' she corrected.

'Fine I'll let you drive in exchange for...' he paused.

'In exchange for?' she asked.

'A kiss' he said simply.

She unhooked her seatbelt and wrapped her arms around his neck, kissing him gently on the lips.

'Whoah I can't see where I'm driving... you're crazy! Move already hun!' he gasped.

She giggled and moved out of the way.

'Call me that again.' she said gently.

'I can't. My tongue's tied, my bloods pounding and I'm all dizzy. I guess I'd better let you drive after all... JUST FOR A WHILE!' he added quickly when he saw the glee in her eyes.

The next fifteen minutes were nothing short of terrifying for him.

'Slowly... slowly... BRAKE.. BRAKE!!!'

'You're not turning enough you're gonna hit the curb!'

!There's a car coming... pull over!'

At the end of it all, he was sweating heavilly and had a glazed look in his eyes.

'That was great!' she giggled.

'I'm too old for this. I don't care how many times you kiss me. No more driving for you. My poor heart can't take it anymore. Let me take over.' he said dramatically.

'It wasn't JUST a kiss. It was my FIRST kiss,' she said irritably and pulled over.

He was stunned into silence for a little while. Then he reach out and hugged her.

'Thank you. I'm a little worn out from all the excitement. Why don't you drive us back to your college. You know the way right?' he asked.

'Really? But there'll be lots of cars!' she said nervously.

'You have to learn some time, hun. Besides I'm right here beside you. Don't worry,' he reached out and kissed her forehead. 'It will be fine.'

And so they drove the rest of the way back to her college. Chatting and singing along to bad music on mix fm. It became a regular event. She'd drive and he'd sit back and talk to her while she drove. Two weeks later her parents bought her a car. They were suprised at how well she drove and let her take the car to college. It was their little secret.

His mind still in the past, he recalled when they first argued. It was over a msn chat.

'I have exams in two weeks and I have to study...' she typed half heartedly

'We'll go out after your exams then hun.' he replied placatingly.

'But I'll miss you...' she typed.

'Your exams are more important. Concentrate on them. It'll be over before you know it.' he advised.

'You don't care do you?' she asked.

'Care about what?' he said baffled.

'About me.'

'Of course I do.' he said irritably.

'Then why aren't you upset you can't see me. I am!' she said fiercely.

'Don't be stupid. ' he said bluntly.

'Fine I'm stupid. Too stupid for you to care about,' she accused.

'What the hell is your problem? If I didn't care about you I wouldn't ask you to study you idiot!' he snapped.

'Fine. I'm stupid. I'm an idiot. I have a HUGE problem. I miss my boyfriend and he just doesn't fucking care.'

As he was typing his reply he noticed that she had gone offline. He tried calling her but she wouldn't pick up his phone calls. Sighing he shook his head.

'Oh well. It was about time to call it off anyway. Since when did I become her boyfriend? Its getting a little too personal for my liking. She'sgetting too close to me. Or am I getting too close to her?' Shrugging, he went to bed and tried to sleep.

She walked to her car. She was in a foul mood and she knew it. She was cold to all her friends and barely paid attention in class today. 'Damn it! Why does he have to make me feel this way? I hope he feels just as bad.'

The three hours after class that she spent in the library had been a waste of time too. Instead of studying she had doodled his name all over her paper and sighed almost pepectually.

When she reached her car she noticed a single red rose on her windscreen. There was a card next to it.

'I'm sorry about last night. I didn't mean that I don't care for you. I do. In fact I haven't been able to sleep since we argued. In fact I took the day off work today. I'll be waiting for you at our usual spot; if you can forgive me. Vince 11.00am'

'Oh my god! Its already 3.30pm. He'll think that I'm too angry to see him.' She hitched her skirt and ran to McDonalds.

Rushing in she knocked someone carrying a tray of food and the food went flying. The man cursed and look at her angrilly.

'I'm so sorry. I was in a rush and didn't see you. I'm really sorry.' she stammered.

'Sorry isn't going to bring my food back...' the angry man started.

'But this will,' a voice came.

Smoothly he placed a fifty note in the man's pocket and smiled.

'Just watch where you're going next time woman!' he grumbled and went back to the counter to reorder his food.

'You sure know how to make an entry' he smiled at Yuki.

In tears she ran and grabbed him into a tight hug.

'I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I was just scared of losing you.' she bubbled.

'You won't lose me. I'm here aren't I?' he hugged her back.

'You waited all this time alone?' she asked.

'No I had company.' he smiled pointing at a table filled with empty cups.

'You drank all that? Coke? You're gonna get hyper!' she laughed between tears.

'I didn't have Coke. I had strawberry milkshake.' he winked.

'Like me... like the stuff I like...' she smiled wiping her eyes dry and looking up at him.

'I don't like you. I thought I already told you that.' he said calmly.

'What? But... but...' she felt fresh tears coming to her eyes.

'The rose. What color was it?' he asked casually.

'Red.. so that means... that means...' she paused.

'Yes it does.'

'I love you too!' she shouted and hugged him even tighter.

'Ouch! My ear! My ribs! I'm fragile you know. Be gentle,' he laughed.
